What is Quiz Night Finals Season 1?
Quiz Night Finals Season 1 is a 12-week quiz competition that starts on Thursday, 2 July 2026 at 7:00 PM and continues every Thursday night for 12 weeks. Teams earn leaderboard points each week, and the top 10 teams at the end of the season will be invited to compete in a special One Night Final Event for a chance to win the grand prize of R5,000.
How do teams earn points?
Teams earn points by answering quiz questions correctly. The more questions your team gets right, the more points you will earn towards the season leaderboard.
Teams can also earn 1 bonus point each week by bringing a team mascot. Your mascot can be anything, such as a figurine, doll, or even something you have made yourself. The only rule is that it must be at least 15 cm tall, small items like keychains do not count.
How many people can be on a team?
Teams must have a minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 6 players.
For the Finals Night, only players who have participated in at least one quiz night during the season may compete. You cannot bring in new players who did not attend any previous quiz nights during the season.
Do we need to attend all 12 quiz nights to qualify for the Finals?
No, you do not need to attend all 12 weeks to qualify for the Finals. You can attend as many quiz nights as you like. However, the more weeks your team attends, the more points you can earn, which increases your chances of finishing in the Top 10 and qualifying for the Finals Night.
What happens if two or more teams finish the season with
the same number of points?
If two or more teams are tied on points at the end of the season, a tiebreaker will be used to determine the final leaderboard positions and which teams qualify for the Finals.
How can we keep track of the leaderboard?
The leaderboard will be updated after every quiz night and posted on our social media pages. There will also be a live season tracker on our website where you can check your team's points and see whether you are currently in a qualifying position for the Finals.
Scores and standings will be updated the day after each quiz night.
What prizes can teams win?
Every Thursday during the season, the winning team takes home a R1,000 cash prize.
Second and third place teams will each receive bowling vouchers.

How do teams qualify for the Finals?
At the end of the 12-week season, only the Top 10 teams on the leaderboard will qualify for the Finals Night. The Finals are an exclusive, invite-only event, and only teams that have earned enough points to finish in the Top 10 will receive an invitation to compete.
Can spectators or non-qualified teams attend the Finals Night?
No. The Finals Night is an exclusive, invite-only event. Only the Top 10 qualifying teams and their registered players may attend and participate. No spectators or non-qualified teams will be allowed to attend the Finals.
How much does it cost to enter Quiz Night?
Entry to Quiz Night is completely free. You do not need to pay anything to attend or play. The only costs would be optional purchases such as drinks or pizza, if you choose to order them.
Can we change our team name or team members during the season?
No. Once your team name and team members are registered, they are locked in for the entire season.
Can we join the season at any point, or do we have to start from Week 1?
You can join the season at any point during the 12 weeks. You do not need to start from Week 1. Your qualification for the Finals is based on your total points, not when you joined. The more quiz nights you attend, the more opportunities you have to earn points and improve your chances of reaching the Top 10 leaderboard.
How is the quiz structured?
Each Quiz Night consists of 5 rounds with 10 questions per round. The questions cover a variety of categories, including general knowledge, movies, actors, music, sports, and more.
In addition, there is a bonus round with 10 extra questions for teams to earn additional points.
Are there any rules for during the quiz?
To keep the quiz fair for everyone, no shouting out answers is allowed during question rounds, and no phones are permitted while questions are being asked.
Teams must also consist of a minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 6 players.
Is there a dress code or theme for Quiz Night?
There is no dress code or theme for regular Quiz Nights. However, the Finals Night will have a special theme, and more details about this will be shared closer to the time.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
No, outside food and drinks are not allowed. The venue has a bar available with drinks, soda, and coffee. We also offer bubble tea, pizza, and a selection of small snacks for purchase during Quiz Night.
How do we get into the Top 10 leaderboard?
The Top 10 leaderboard is based on total accumulated points across the season. Teams earn points every quiz night, and the more consistent you are, the higher your total score will be, increasing your chances of qualifying for the Finals.
